Our essential oils are VERY high quality, 100% pure and listed below in alphabetical order. We have provided a simple summary of each oils principal actions, source, character, applications, methods of use and cautions. This information is not totally inclusive and is offered only as a guide to help you choose which is most suitable for you. Further reading is recommended as modern science is researching essential oils and their properties, on a daily basis.

The following essential oils are available from us: Bergamot, Black Pepper, Chamomile (Roman), Clary Sage, Citronella, Cedarwood, Cypress, Eucalyptus, Frankincense, Geranium, Grapefruit, Ginger, Jasmine (5%), Juniper, Lavender, Lemon, Lemongrass, Lime, Marjoram, Neroli (5%), Orange, Peppermint, Patchouli, Petitgrain, Pine, Rose (5%), Rosewood, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Tea Tree, Ylang Ylang.

NOTE: THE DILUATION RATES SUGGESTED BELOW ARE BASED ON THE TOTAL VOLUME OF ESSENTIAL OIL TO CARRIER OIL. A COMBINATION OF ESSENTIAL OILS SHOULD NOT EXCEED 5 - 8 (depending on the essential oils) DROPS PER 10ml OF CARRIER OIL.


BERGAMOT   

10 ml (Citrus bergamia)

This cheering and uplifting essential oil is ideal to use at the start of your day – particularly if it may be a long or trying day! Bergamot is well known for its antiseptic properties, it may be added to skin care preparations to suit oily/combination skin and generally maintain a healthy complexion.

If used daily as a room fragrance or bath oil, it can help control tension and depression build up. It is also an excellent oil for use in many ailments connected to the skin such as eczema, psoriasis, acne and seborrhoea (over production of skin oil) of the scalp and skin. This is the oil that gives Earl Grey tea it’s unusual flavour (do not try to make your own!).

PRINCIPAL ACTIONS: UPLIFTING, CHEERING, RELAXING & REFRESHING. ANTISEPTIC.  

SOURCE: TAKEN FROM THE PEEL OF THE SMALL ORANGE-LIKE FRUIT OF THE BERGAMOT TREE, NAMED AFTER THE VILLAGE OF BERGAMO IN NORTHERN ITALY.

EXTRACTION METHOD: EXPRESSION

CHARACTER: CLEAR OIL WITH A DRY, LIGHT, FLORAL, DELICATE AND REFRESHING CITRUS AROMA.

APPLICATIONS: ANTISEPTIC, STRESS, TENSION & DEPRESSION. HELPFUL WITH CERTAIN SKIN PROBLEMS (ACNE, ECZEMA, PSORIASIS.

USE: BATH: 5 – 8 DROPS IN A LITTLE CARRIER OIL OR MILK ADDED TO A RUNNING BATH.

MASSAGE: 3-5 DROPS TO EVERY 5ml MEASURE OF CARRIER OIL. 

BLENDS WELL WITH CYPRESS, NEROLI, JASMINE, GERANIUM, LEMON, CHAMOMILE, JUNIPER, LAVENDER AND YLANG YLANG.

CAUTION:  DO NOT USE BEFORE GOING IN THE SUN OR ON A SUNBED (REDUCES NATURAL PROTECTION). IF PREGNANT, CONSULT DOCTOR. MAY IRRITATE SENSITIVE SKIN. 


BLACK PEPPER 

10 ml (Piper nigrum)                                                                                                                      

One of the oldest known spices, Black Pepper essential oil is very warming and stimulating. This oil is said by some to be one of the most beneficial oils in the treatment of tired and sore muscles especially where stiffness is present. Also very stimulating, it strengthens the nerves and mind. Useful in treating bruising of the skin after a sports injury. An all-round good oil for the sports person. Sharpening the mind and easing those aches and pains after workouts. Black Pepper is often described as clearing.

PRINCIPAL ACTIONS: WARMING, STIMULATING AND A TONIC. ANTISEPTIC.

SOURCE: BLACK PEPPER ESSENTIAL OIL IS OBTAINED FROM BLACK PEPPERCORNS.

EXTRACTION METHOD: DISTILLATION.

 CHARACTER: A CLEAR PALE GREEN OIL WITH A HOT, SHARP, SPICY AROMA.

APPLICATIONS: RELAXING TIRED, ACHING, STIFF MUSCLES, RHEUMATIC PAIN, POOR CIRCULATION AND DIGESTIVE PROBLEMS. 

 USE: BATH: 5 DROPS INTO A RUNNING BATH.

MASSAGE: 2 OR 3 DROPS PER 5ml CARRIER OIL

INHALATION: 2 DROPS ON A TISSUE 

BLENDS WELL WITH SWEET MARJORAM, LAVENDER, SANDALWOOD, FRANKINCENSE AND ROSEMARY.

CAUTION: MAY BE AN IRRITANT IN SOME CASES. USE IN MODERATION – DILUTE WELL.


CHAMOMILE ROMAN  

10 ml (Anthemis nobilis)                                                                                                              

An excellent oil for use in skincare being both soft and gentle. Very good for skin care preparations to use against acne, boils, chilblains and eczema. Chamomile is both soothing and comforting. It is ideal for use in a bath or massage blend when your day is over. Add to body lotions and skin care preparations to suit normal, fair and sensitive skin. Chamomile is also an excellent choice for use with children (in lower dilutions).

Very effective for use in cases of rheumatism, neuralgia, arthritis, inflamed joints and sprains. Added to a bath, its analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties can be highly beneficial. Can also be used to treat burns, blisters and inflamed wounds.

PRINCIPAL ACTIONS: RELAXING, CALMING & SOOTHING.  SKIN CARE.

SOURCE: CHAMOMILE ESSENTIAL OIL IS OBTAINED FROM THE SMALL DAISY-LIKE FLOWERS COMMON ALL OVER THE UNITED KINGDOM.

EXTRACTION METHOD: DISTILLATION.

CHARACTER: A LIGHT FRAGRANCE THAT IS SWEET AND SOOTHING WITH A WARM HERBACEOUS-FRUITY SCENT.

APPLICATIONS:  STRESS, INSOMNIA, HEADACHE, INFLAMED JOINTS, RHEUMATISM, ARTHRITIS & MANY SKIN PROBLEMS (ACNE, BURNS, CHILBLAINS, DERMATITIS, ECZEMA.)

USE: BATH: 6 DROPS INTO A RUNNING BATH.

MASSAGE: 4 DROPS TO EVERY 5ml MEASURE OF CARRIER OIL

BLENDS WELL WITH LAVENDER, GERANIUM, BERGAMOT, CLARY SAGE, JASMINE, NEROLI, ROSE AND LEMON.

CAUTIONNONE KNOWN. MAY CAUSE DERMATITIS IN A FEW INDIVIDUALS. SHOULD ALSO BE AVOIDED DURING THE FIRST MONTHS OF PREGNANCY DUE TO IT BEING AN EMMENAGOGUE.


CEDARWOOD VIRGINIAN

10 ml (Juniperus virginians)

A sensual and soothing oil that is beneficial on oily skin. Helps to lift the spirits and ease tension after a busy day.  Traditionally used by native Americans to help with respiratory infections, aches & pains (rheumatism & arthritis) and skin rashes. The oil is also an effective insect repellent

PRINCIPAL ACTIONS: STIMULATING, ENERGISING, UPLIFTING, EXPECTORANT AND ANTISEPTIC.

SOURCE: A CONIFEROUS TREE NATIVE TO NORTH AMERICA, THE OIL IS EXTRACTED FROM THE WOODY PARTS OF THE TREE.

EXTRACTION METHOD: STEAM DISTILLATION.

CHARACTER: AN AMBER OR PALE YELLOW COLOURED OIL WITH A WOODY, SWEET CAMPHOR LIKE AROMA.

APPLICATIONS: BREATHING DURING COLDS (RESPIRATORY – BRONCHITIS & CATARRH), TREATING OF OILY SKIN, TENSION & STRESS, RHEUMATISM & ARTHRITIS.

USE: BATH: 6 DROPS INTO A RUNNING BATH.

MASSAGE: 3 DROPS TO EVERY 5ml MEASURE OF CARRIER OIL.

BLENDS WELL WITH ROSEMARY, SANDALWOOD, ROSE, JUNIPER, CYPRESS, PATCHOULI, YLANG YLANG, PINE, BERGAMOT, CITRONELLA AND EUCALYPTUS.

CAUTION: AVOID IF PREGNANT. USE DILUTED AND WITH CARE MAY CAUSE SKIN IRRITATION.


CEDARWOOD ATLAS  

10 ml (Cedrus atlantica)                                                                                                

A soothing oil that is beneficial on oily skin and hair. Good for acne and other skin infections. Uplifting and relaxing after a busy day.  A very good insect repellent when blended with Citronella. Cedar wood has a long history of use dating back to the ancient Egyptians who used it in their embalming process. Very effective for treating respiratory infections and aches & pains (rheumatism & arthritis). A very good antiseptic.

PRINCIPAL ACTIONS: STIMULATING, ENERGISING, UPLIFTING, CALMING, EXPECTORANT AND ANTISEPTIC.

SOURCE: AN EVERGREN TREE NATIVE TO THE ATLAS MOUNTAINS OF NORTH AFRICA. THE OIL IS EXTRACTED FROM THE WOOD, STUMPS, SHAVINGS AND SAWDUST.

EXTRACTION METHOD: STEAM DISTILLATION.

CHARACTER: A YELOW, DEEP AMBER OR ORANGE COLOURED OIL THAT IS VERY VISCOUS. THE OIL HAS A WOODY, SWEET AROMA WITH A RICH EARTHY BACKGROUND.

APPLICATIONS: BREATHING DURING COLDS (RESPIRATORY – BRONCHITIS & CATARRH, TREATING OF OILY SKIN, TENSION & STRESS, RHEUMATISM & ARTHRITIS.

USE: BATH: 6 DROPS INTO A RUNNING BATH.

MASSAGE: 3 DROPS TO EVERY 5ml MEASURE OF CARRIER OIL.

BLENDS WELL WITH ROSEMARY, SANDALWOOD, ROSEWOOD, JUNIPER, CYPRESS, PATCHOULI, YLANG YLANG, PINE, BERGAMOT, JASMINE, CLARY SAGE, CITRONELLA, NEROLI AND EUCALYPTUS.

CITRONELLA                                                                                                                    

10 ml (Cymbopogon nardus)                                                                                                     

A powerful lemony aroma - useful as an air freshener or insect repellent (use citronella essential oil in an oil burner or vaporiser). Its deodorant and stimulating qualities are excellent for tired, sweaty feet! Toning and refreshing, it is particularly good for oily skin and added to a foot bath will promote healthy feet.

PRINCIPAL ACTIONS: INCREASES ALERTNESS, INSECT REPELLENT, NATURAL DEODORISER.

SOURCE: CITRONELLA ESSENTIAL OIL IS OBTAINED FROM THE TALL AROMATIC PERENNIAL GRASS NATIVE TO SRI LANKA.

EXTRACTION METHOD: DISTILLATION.

CHARACTER: THE AROMA HAS A SWEET, POWERFUL, LEMONY SCENT. THE OIL IS A PALE YELLOWY-BROWN COLOUR.

APPLICATIONS: INSECT REPELLENT ESPECIALLY EFFECTIVE WHEN BLENDED WITH VIRGINIAN CEDARWOOD OIL. AN UPLIFTING TONIC WITH REFRESHING AND DEODORISING PROPERTIES.  ALSO HELPS TO BOOST THE IMMUNE SYSTEM.

USE: INSECECT REPELLENT: 5 DROPS IN A BURNER OR 3 DROPS ON A BALL OF COTTON WOOL OR 3 DROPS PER 5ML OF CARRIER OIL (FOR APPLICATION TO THE SKIN).

FOOTBATH: 2 DROPS ADDED TO RUNNING WATER.

BATH: 3 DROPS ADDED TO RUNNING WATER

BLENDS WELL WITH LEMONGRASS, BERGAMOT, LEMON, ORANGE, CEDARWOOD, EUCALYPTUS, GERANIUM, PINE, LAVENDER AND PEPPERMINT.

CAUTION: AVOID DURING PREGNANCY.  MAY CAUSE DERMATITIS IN SOME INDIVIDUALS. DILUTE WELL BEFORE USE ON THE SKIN.


CLARY SAGE               

10 ml (Salvia sclarea)                                                                                                                    

Clary Sage has euphoric properties and induces a sense of well being. It is ideal for use when you are overworked and stressed out. Clary Sage is a balancing oil and is therefore a popular monthly choice for women. Also useful during the changes that take place later in a woman’s life. Sometimes referred to as “a lady’s best friend” because its relaxing effects on muscles is helpful during the menstrual cycle.  The oil will relax the muscles that cause uterine contractions during the period therefore relieving the pain caused by this action. Clary Sage is also effective for tension and for mental or emotional stress. Do not use this oil if consuming alcohol as it will enhance the effects of alcohol (and give you VERY bad dreams).

 PRINCIPAL ACTIONS: SOOTHING, RELAXING, UPLIFTING, BALANCING AND WARMING.

SOURCE: ESSENTIAL OIL IS OBTAINED FROM THE FLOWERING TOPS AND FOLIAGE OF THE HERB WHICH IS NATIVE TO SOUTHERN EUROPE BUT IS NOW GROWN WORLDWIDE.

EXTRACTION METHOD: DISTILLATION.

CHARACTER: THE PLANT PROVIDES A COLOURLESS OR PALE YELLOW-GREEN OIL THAT HAS A NUTTY, SWEET, HERB TYPE AROMA.

APPLICATIONS: DEPRESSION, NERVES AND STRESS. MUSCULAR ACHES & PAINS. MENSTRUAL CYCLE & PERIOD PAIN.  A VERY COMFORTING OIL THAT RELAXES YOU INTO AN UNTROUBLED STATE OF MIND. IT HELPS TO RESTORE YOUR SENSE OF “BEING”.

USE: BATH: 6 – 8 DROPS INTO A RUNNING BATH

MASSAGE: 3-5 DROPS TO EVERY 5ml MEASURE OF CARRIER OIL

INHALATION: 4 DROPS IN A BURNER.

BLENDS WELL WITH CEDARWOOD, LAVENDER, GERANIUM, SANDALWOOD, PINE, JASMINE, FRANKINCENSE, BERGAMOT AND JUNIPER.

CYPRESS    

10 ml (Cupressus sempervirens)                                                                                                 

A natural astringent and deodorant, the properties of Cypress make it an effective footbath especially for very sweaty feet. Also a good oil to be used if suffering from asthma, coughing, (especially influenza based) and other respiratory conditions. Very well respected oil for the treatment of varicose veins, but care should be taken during the massage of heavily veined areas – NEVER massage the vein only the area above the swollen vein.

PRINCIPAL ACTIONS: REFRESHES, RESTORES AND TONES. ANTISEPTIC, RELAXING, CALMING AND SOOTHING.

SOURCE: THE TREE IS NATIVE TO THE EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN AND THE OIL IS EXTRACTED FROM THE NEEDLES AND TWIGS

EXTRACTION METHOD: DISTILLATION.

CHARACTER: WITH A PLEASING WOODY, SLIGHTLY SPICY, REFRESHING FRAGRANCE THE OIL IS A PALE YELLOW IN COLOUR.

APPLICATIONS: RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS, VARICOSE VEINS, POOR CIRCULATION AND AS A ROOM DEODORISER. ACTS AS A REFRESHING ANTISEPTIC.

USE: BATH: 6 DROPS INTO A RUNNING BATH

MASSAGE: 3-5 DROPS TO EVERY 5ml MEASURE OF CARRIER OIL.

BLENDS WELL WITH CEDARWOOD, LAVENDER, CLARY SAGE, LEMON, GERANIUM, SANDALWOOD, PINE, BERGAMOT, ORANGE AND JUNIPER.

CAUTION: NONE KNOWN.  PROBABLY NOT BEST USED DURING PREGNANCY.


EUCALYPTUS

10 ml (Eucalyptus globulus)                                                                                                        

This is a fresh, sharp, piercing, stimulating and penetrating oil, an excellent decongestant when used as an inhalant. It is a very powerful antiseptic and is useful in massage blends for muscular fatigue. It is an excellent oil to add to blends for use either before or after sporting activities. Ideal in the ‘sick room’, Eucalyptus can be vaporised or sprayed around when there is a ‘flu or cold virus around. It reduces the risk of the infection spreading and speeds up the patient’s recovery. Being a cooling oil it is also very good where a high body temperature is suffered.

PRINCIPAL ACTIONS: ANTIVIRAL, ANTISEPTIC, STIMULANT AND EXPECTORANT.

SOURCE: EUCALYPTUS ESSENTIAL OIL IS OBTAINED FROM THE LEAVES & TWIGS OF THE TREE WHICH IS NATIVE TO AUSTRALIA. NOW GROWN WORLD WIDE, MOST ESSENTIAL OIL COMES FROM SPAIN, PORTUGAL, BRAZIL, CALIFORNIA, RUSSIA AND CHINA. VERY LITTLE IS PRODUCED IN AUSTRALIA.

EXTRACTION METHOD: DISTILLATION.

CHARACTER: A CLEAR OIL WITH A SHARP, FRESH CAMPHOR-LIKE AROMA.

APPLICATIONS: ANTISEPTIC (CUTS etc), COOLING (FEVER), DEODORISER, DECONGESTANT AND RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS (COLDS & FLU), MUSCULAR ACHES & PAINS.

 USE: BATH: 3 DROPS INTO A RUNNING BATH.  

INHALATION: 5 DROPS IN AN OIL BURNER OR 3 DROPS ON A BALL OF COTTON WOOL OR 3 DROPS IN A BOWL OF HOT WATER.

MASSAGE: 3 DROPS TO EVERY 5ml MEASURE OF CARRIER OIL.

BLENDS WELL WITH ROSEMARY, CEDARWOOD, LAVENDER, LEMON, PINE, TEA TREE AND MARJORAM.

 CAUTION: EXTERNAL USE ONLY. MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN UNDER 3 YEARS OF AGE.


FRANKINCENSE  

10 ml (Boswellia thurifera)                                                                                                       

Frankincense brings a rejuvenating and toning quality to mature skin. It has an antiseptic, soothing effect on the lungs and is very good for respiratory problems. It is said to ease shortness of breath in asthmatics. It is well used in meditation to regulate breathing and bring feelings of calmness and ease tension. It is also used in massage to treat dry and mature skin, some say helping to reduce wrinkles.

 PRINCIPAL ACTIONS: TONIC, CALMING, RELAXING, SOOTHING, ANTISEPTIC AND ASTRINGENT.

SOURCE: FRANKINCENSE ESSENTIAL OIL COMES FROM THE BARK RESIN OF THE TREE WHICH IS NATIVE TO NORTH EAST AFRICA, BUT ALSO GROWS IN THE SOUTHERN ARABIAN PENINSULA

EXTRACTION METHOD: DISTILLATION.

CHARACTER: FRANKINCENSE IS A PALE YELLOW OIL THAT HAS A DELICATE, SWEET, SPICY, RELAXING FRAGRANCE.

 APPLICATIONS: AGEING SKIN/REJUVENATION, STRESS, ANXIETY, ASTHMATIC & RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS. RELAXES THE MIND AND SOOTHES THE EMOTIONS.

USE: BATH: 6 DROPS INTO A RUNNING BATH

MASSAGE: 3 DROPS PER 5ml OF CARRIER OIL

INHALATION: 2 DROPS ON A TISSUE.

BLENDS WELL WITH BLACK PEPPER, GERANIUM, LAVENDER, CLARY SAGE, LAVENDER, SANDALWOOD, PINE, NEROLI, BERGAMOT AND ORANGE.

GERANIUM                                                                                                         

10 ml (Pelargonium graveolens)                                                                                  

Often said to be a woman’s favorite oil, due to its uplifting qualities. Good for those who suffer from pre-menstrual tension. This is due to its effect on the adrenal cortex, in relieving stress. Has a stimulating effect on the lymphatic system. Good oil for greasy skin, as it has an effect on the sebum, the fatty secretion in sebaceous glands which keep the skin supple. Geranium has a mild tonic action and is suitable for all skin types. Cleansing and refreshing it has a delicious floral fragrance with a soothing effect especially when used in an oil burner, bath or massage. Geranium is another oil that is popular with women on a monthly basis. Also benefits women experiencing changes later in their lives.

 PRINCIPL ACTIONS: BALANCING, SOOTHING, COMFORTING AND UPLIFTING.

SOURCE: EXTRACTED FROM THE FLOWERS AND LEAVES OF THIS SOUTH AFRICAN PLANT. THE ESSENTIAL OIL MAINLY COMES FROM THE ISLAND OF REUNION, NORTH AFRICA, RUSSIA AND CHINA.

EXTRACTION METHOD: DISTILLATION.

CHARACTER: A PALE OLIVE GREEN OIL WITH AN AROMA THAT IS VERY SWEET, HEAVY AND A LITTLE LIKE ROSE. PERHAPS WITH A HINT OF LEMON/MINT.

APPLICATIONS: ANTI-DEPRESSANT, SKIN CARE, CIRCULATION, MENOPAUSE, STRESS AND NERVOUS TENSION. RELAXES AND SOOTHES….HELPS MAINTAIN A SENSE OF WELLBEING.

USE: BATH: 6 DROPS INTO A RUNNING BATH

MASSAGE: 3 DROPS PER 5ml OF CARRIER OIL

INHALATION: 2 DROPS ON A TISSUE.  

BLENDS WELL WITH LAVENDER, ROMAN CHAMOMILE, ROSE, SANDALWOOD, JASMINE, NEROLI, BERGAMOT AND PATCHOULI.

CAUTIONNON-TOXIC, NON-SENSITISING & NON-IRRITANT. HYPERSENSITIVE SKIN MAY BE IRRITATED. AVOID IF DIABETIC. AVOID IF PREGNANT.


GINGER   

10 ml (Zingiber officinale)                                                                                           

A warming oil that is helpful with digestive problems and nausea. It is a good oil to use for aching muscles, rheumatism and stomach cramps. A good nerve tonic and effective for mental fatigue and exhaustion. Ginger is an effective decongestant, ideal for use in an oil burner or for inhalation.

 PRINCIPAL ACTIONS: SETTLING, WARMING AND STIMULATING

SOURCE: ORIGINALLY FOUND IN SOUTHERN ASIA - NOW GROWN ACROSS THE TROPICS. THE OIL IS EXTRACTED FROM THE DRIED ROOT. MOST DISTILLATION TAKES PLACE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM, CHINA AND INDIA.

EXTRACTION METHOD: DISTILLATION.

CHARACTER: A PALE YELLOW, AMBER OR LIGHT GREEN OIL WITH AN AROMA THAT IS FRESH SPICY, WOODY, WARM AND PLEASANT.

APPLICATIONS: CIRCULATION, MUSCLES AND JOINTS, RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS, NAUSEA & UPSET STOMACH.

 USE: BATH: 4 DROPS INTO A RUNNING BATH

MASSAGE: 2 DROPS PER 5ml CARRIER OIL (DO NOT EXCEED THIS VOLUME)

INHALATION: 2 DROPS IN A BURNER OR IN HOT WATER  

BLENDS WELL WITH ROSE, SANDALWOOD, NEROLI, ORANGE, PATCHOULI, FRANKINCENSE, ROSEWOOD, CEDARWOOD AND CITRUS OILS.

GRAPEFRUIT                                                                                                     

10 ml (Citrus paradisi)                                                                                                 

Aroma is sweet, sharp and refreshing citrus type. Revitalises the emotions and freshens the mind. A very uplifting oil which also blends well with other citrus oils. It is said to help with weight reducing diets as it stimulates bile secretion helping with digestion of fats. May be helpful with the headaches and tiredness associated with jet lag.

Lemongrass essential oil is extracted from a wonderfully fragrant tropical grass, having an aroma that is fresh, grassy, citrus like, strong and sweeter than lemon. A very good insect repellant and is excellent in keeping fleas and tics away from pets at home. Vaporisation in the room is said to be one of the best uses of this oil in the home environment keeping all manner of insects at bay. Lemongrass is deodorising and excellent for tired, aching feet. A good skin care oil especially for oily skin conditions. Helpful with ageing skin. This oil is anti-inflammatory (as good as Chamomile), antiseptic and fungicidal. Could be useful in cases of athletes foot. Traditionally used in Chinese medicine for centuries. Said to be a good oil to use in cases where suppressing the appetite is needed to aid dieting. Good to tone loose skin after excessive dieting. May have aphrodisiac properties in the right application.

ROSE                                                                                                                    

10 ml (Rosa centifolia) 5% pure oil. Blended with Jojoba.                                    

Traditionally known as the 'Queen of Flowers', Rose was probably the first flower from which an essential oil was ever distilled (tenth century). Only a little of this special oil is needed as its perfume is quite strong. This diluted oil can be used straight from the bottle.
In cold conditions will solidify, can be warmed in the hand or in warm water. Use 15-20 drops, per drop of pure oil required in blends. Our reason for supplying Rose at a 5% dilution is that a 10ml bottle of the pure oil would cost around £55.00

ROSEMARY   

10ml (Rosmarinus officinalis)                                                                                     

One of the most popular oils after lavender and tea-tree. It is a reviving and stimulating oil helping to keep the circulation, heart, kidneys, liver and gall bladder in good working order. It is often used in the treatment of tired and aching muscles. A good oil to aid concentration as it will combat fatigue. A good oil to vapourise in a room as it will purify and disinfect the air, good to combat winter cold and flu airborne viruses. May be used as a final rinse on the hair after washing to help with dandruff and hair care.

PRINCIPAL ACTIONS: INVIGORATING, REFRESHING, PENETRATING, STIMULATING, ANTISEPTIC.

Rosewood has a delightful, emotionally uplifting fragrance with soothing qualities. It is also antibacterial and a good deodoriser, having a tonic effect on the body. This oil is said to have cell growth stimulating and tissue regeneration properties and can be used in cases of cuts or wounds to the body. It may also have aphrodisiac properties so could well help in cases of impotence or frigidity.

 PRINCIPAL ACTIONS: RELAXING, CALMING, UPLIFTING AND ENLIVENING. ANTI-DEPRESSANT.

SOURCE: A NATIVE OF SOUTH AMERICA WITH BRAZIL & PERU BEING THE MAIN PRODUCERS. THE OIL IS EXTRACTED FROM THE WOOD CHIPPINGS AND SHAVINGS THAT ARE SURPLUS TO THE TIMBER TRADE.

A relaxant with sensual properties. Sandalwood is useful for all skin types and can help treat dry, cracked and chapped skin. Also good in cases of eczema. Known as an aphrodisiac especially when blended with Patchouli, Geranium or Rose.

TEA-TREE                                                                                                           

10 ml (Melaleuca alternifolia)                                                                                      

AMAZING… is the only word to describe this fantastic oil. Aroma is very fresh and pungent medicinal type odour. The best all round oil to fight all types of infections. Known to be effective against bacteria, fungi and viruses. A very powerful immunostimulant. It is also known to be a good oil to dilute within a shampoo or hair rinse as it will help fight dandruff. Many books have been written on the uses of this very popular oil.

PRINCIPAL ACTIONS: ANTISEPTIC, ANTI-FUNGAL & ANTI-VIRAL.

SOURCE: TEA TREE ESSENTIAL OIL IS OBTAINED FROM THE LEAVES AND TWIGS OF THE TREE WHICH IS NATIVE TO AUSTRALIA THE ONLY SOURCE OF THIS VARIETY OF OIL.

EXTRACTION METHOD: DISTILLATION.

CHARACTER: A PALE YELLOW/GREEN OIL WITH A VERY ‘MEDICINAL’ SMELL.

 APPLICATIONS: GOOD FOR ACNE, COLD SORES & BURNS. ELIMINATES DANDRUFF. INSECT REPELLENT. FIGHTS COLDS etc

SORE THROATS: Add 1 – 2 drops to a glass of water & gargle.

BRONCHITIS/FLU, SINUSITIS:2 – 3 drops on a handkerchief, 3 -5 drops in a bath, 5 drops in a burner (reduces spread of infection), 2% in a carrier oil to massage chest & throat.

COLD SORES: Apply 1 drop to a cotton bud and apply twice daily to the sore.

CUTS & WOUNDS: Add 1 or 2 drops to a small basin of warm water and wash gently.

INSECT BITES:Apply 1 drop to cotton bud and apply to the bite. Stops itching and reduces risk of infection.

HEAD LICE: 25 drops into 50ml carrier oil. Apply to head & hair – leave for 3 hours. Wash hair as normal. Repeat every 2 days until no lice are visible. Always avoid eyes.

ACNE/SPOTS/BOILS: 5 drops in a bowl of warm water and wash face (avoid eyes). Apply 1 drop to cotton bud and apply twice a day.

ATHLETES FOOT: 5 drops in a bowl of warm water and soak feet. Use a separate towel and clean footwear.

CYSTITIS/THRUSH: 5 – 7 drops in a bath.

CHICKENPOX/SHINGLES:  5 – 7 drops in a bath. 15 drops into 50ml carrier oil – apply to infected area.
